The Queen of Her Clean Castle
I've been extraordinarily crabby this week. And I mean C-R-A-B-B-Y! I'm not one prone to mood swings and can typically snap out of a funk but this one wasn't leaving. It stuck around long enough for my hubs to wonder what the heck was going on. And I didn't have a good answer. So after getting upset over things that didn't matter and having heated discussions over inconsequential things, Bri decided to take the kids for a couple hours. We both realized that I just needed some time to myself. A mental health day, if you will. The only bummer is that I can't just call in "sick" to work. My "work" tugs on my arms, hits me to say "I love you", fights with his brother, spills food all over my floor... Ok, that's a tangent, back to the point. The plan was for him to take the boys to run some errands and when he got back, I'd go get lost for a little while. I thought I needed some time with a good book in a coffee shop or something to that effect. Baby Girl was sleeping so I started cleaning the house because that has been on my to-do list for a VERY LONG time. I picked up, swept, mopped the floors, cleaned the bathrooms, erased all the smudges from my walls and windows. In the middle of this I started to notice the crabby starting to melt away. Bri came home with the boys and when he came in the house, I had a grin on my face, finally! As I was cleaning I started thinking about how much better I was feeling and was a bit perplexed. Cleaning is now the definition of "me-time"? My realization was this: I love my little home, but I love it even more when it's clean. I don't want to be the queen of a dirty, food-stuck-to-everything, clutter-everywhere-kind-of-castle. I want to be queen of an organized, a-place-for-everything, and most of all CLEAN castle! I can even handle stepping around transformers and Lightning McQueen sweatershirts if the floor underneath it doesn't have food stuck to it. I can do messy if I have to, I CANNOT do dirty. Yuck! So now I'm a happy wife and momma again, with my mostly clean, semi-messy castle that looks lived in but loved.
