Toot my butt

That is the name of the song floating out of the bedroom of my deliquent boys. They got naughty fast and the end result was a very.early.bedtime. After a few tears they began to giggle and came up with a delightful tune. The vast majority of their impromptu numbers include or are all about: butt toot fart poop potty The current jingle has a chorus that is sung at the top of their lungs and goes something like I toot my butt-buuuuttttt. I toot myyyyyyyy butt. Fart in your pants. Yep, I'm beaming with pride...

The Crazy Train

Image
We vowed we wouldn't hop on it. The "been so busy" excuse is one we fight every day. There are choices we all make, some result in busyness and others result in...a little less busyness. We all juggle life's demands whether it be work, family, sports, hobbies. The crazy train has arrived and occassionally we take a spin on it. The thing is, I can't think when I'm on the crazy train. I can't write. I can hardly put together a complete sentence! But life is good, if busy hectic. From planting a garden to doing a will and life insurance and financial planning to Vacation Bible School and making home-made vanilla (more to follow on this!) and bike rides and playdates to changing out a coil pack on the truck and painting the back of the house and trimming the trees and edging the sidewalk to kindergarten shots (uffda is all I can say about that!) and 1st birthdays and 4th birthdays and 35th wedding anniversaries times 2. There's great things...

365 Days of Beautiful Life: Happy Birthday, BabyGirl!

Image
She's growing. Hours turned to days, then months, now a year. Months of misery in the shape of a healthy but pukey pregnancy. Months of  miracles in flutters then kicks than belly boogies. I can still feel her on my chest for the first time. Smell her, feel her cheek on mine, see those little eyes squinting into the light. Snuggled under my chin, arms and legs tucked... Beautiful pale skin, pink lips, bald head... The course of time is stunning in the growth of my baby into a child. In one year, from tiny to toddler. No more guessing what she likes or doesn't. She lets us know with a giggle or a fit. Glee on her face when we walk in the room. Favorite blankies, favorite foods... "Mama" "Dada" "Uh-Oh" "Hi" All from the mouth of my babe who one year ago was just greeting the world. Miracles, Memories and many more to come. Happy birthday, BabyGirl, we love you as big as the sky and as deep as the ocean!

Clean Confessions

Image
Yesterday did not turn out the way I had planned. The fact that it got to me revealed a couple things I need to deal with: I don't do great with disappointment and sometimes I am spoiled. First let's deal with the spoiled issue. The problem I had was in regard to getting my house cleaned. Just having that issue may make me look a little...priveleged. Here's the scoop: I saved up my extra spending money for a month to pay to have my house cleaned. I got what I thought was a great deal on LivingSocial.com and I was psyched! Once you have kids your house no longer has the chance to all be clean at the same time. Some might argue that happens when you get a husband but that's neither here nor there. :) Anyways, I planned this day of house cleaning for 2 months (because it took that long for them to have an opening in the schedule). For weeks I dreamt about the day I would wake up, pack my kids up, leave my dirty house...and return to a CLEAN one! Here's wh...

Time Table Trip-ups

Sam: "Mom, I want a burrito." Me: "It's 10 am, Bud, not time to eat anything yet." Sam: "Let's just forget about time and eat one anyways!" Let's just forget about time... Hard to do some days. It was a reminder I needed. Never mind that it came from my 5 year old. Regarding food...
