Ahh, I feel like a new woman.
Finally, a night without hourly wakings, or a few hours of watching cartoons during the night. No, that's not a usual part of our sleeping routine but we've been fighting a bug. One that's kept our whole family up too many nights with coughing that won't stop (hence the "Curious George" marathons during the wee hours) and fevers that burned long into the night.
The virus moved through our house, toppling us like a row of dominoes. One after the other until it knocked us all down. I'm not sure who it started with because Caleb and Claire had another little bug a couple weeks ago. About a week ago Bri and Caleb started with the sniffling, snorting, coughing, cranking cold. Add aches to Bri's symptoms, fever to Caleb's. I joined in the mix with sinus pressure and most of their symptoms along with a kickin' case of the orneries. Next in line was Sam. His most significant symptom was...wait for it...laying on the couch! This boy N.E.V.E.R lays on the couch. And here he is, Sunday evening laying on the couch watching football, pale as a sheet with his little freckles standing out like stars in the night. I asked him if he felt ok and he grinned and said "Yep, I'm just a little cold". The thermometer said he was 102.9 degrees cold. Many a prayer was said for quick recoveries and especially that BabyGirl would escape the gunk. Sunday afternoon...BabyGirl has a fever. We've officially all been hit!
Now you may be thinking, um, maybe you should, like, wash your hands more. If it were possible, I would've done it! My days went like this: kleenex, purell, blow your nose, purell, blow my nose, purell, touch the baby, purell, get out of BabyGirl's face!, purell, cover your cough, purell.
I think you get the picture. :)
Monday we decided to keep the boys home from school for good measure. But not today. Today Sam is the V.I.K (Very Important Kid) at school and also the birthday boy. This is a day that can't be missed! So off to school they went and I'm home with Darth Vader, I'm mean, BabyGirl. She isn't great at coughing so she sounds a bit junky. Poor honey! But she's still grinning and eating so I'm a happy mama.
A couple weeks of sick certainly makes me start dreaming of doing this again.
I'm know we're not the only ones going through boxes of Kleenex, bottles of cough medicine and prescription antibiotics.
May your Thanksgiving week be full of joy and low on germs!
