Blessings in the "Bag"

So what's this business idea I referred to in my last post?

First, I just want to say a quick THANK YOU for reading these thoughts I blog.
You're encouragement and support mean so much to me.
I love that it resonates with so many...sometimes it's just nice to know that God is working in us all and we aren't alone in our journey towards transformation.
You guys are the best and I am humbled.

A little background...I am a nurse (part-time) in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) and I love it.
My heart is drawn to the littlest and sickest babies and the families who love them.
I've been blessed to be a part of the lives of some who's memory is all that remains.
That is not a privilege I take lightly.

In the last many months we have been moved and excited to increase the amount of money we are giving but have found the family budget is at capacity.
(I say that carefully because we all know God can do big things despite our current finances.)
We still have BabyGirl at home and until she's in school it is our priority to be home with her as much as possible.
More hours in the NICU isn't ideal at this time because of shift-work, childcare and the fact that my heart is easily overwhelmed with the heaviness at times.

On to the plan.
Through a God-orchestrated series of events involving a friend and a fun party, I find myself a Thirty-One Gifts Consultant!

Thirty-One Gifts is a company that makes ADORABLE and very functional totes, purses and organizing products that can be personalized.
This stuff is darn CUTE!
More than that, they are good at the little details: quality fabrics, little perks like pockets where you'd like them, the ability to add pockets and covers to products, etc.
Not to mention personalization which really makes all of it that much sweeter.

Yikes, I'm starting to sound like a salesperson!!

How did that happen?

God kept tugging at this giving-thing in my heart and some great ideas started popping up in my brain.
The long and short of it is this: I will be able to give 25% of my commission to families, individuals, organizations that need financial help.
Doesn't that sound fun?!

In fact, I was able to launch this idea with a fundraiser for a lovely co-worker who is battling cancer.
This time, I'm giving all my commission and I don't think I've ever been more eager for something to be successful!
Sometimes it's not about us, our wants, "needs".
Instead, God gives us a chance to meet the needs of others and give us a purpose that's bigger and that fire in the belly gets all stirred up again.
The beautiful part is that it takes a community to make this work.
And people are SO generous!
We all know there is so much joy in giving.

Another high-point of this business before I sign off: the company is named after Proverbs 31 which is one of my all-time favorite and motivating chapters in Bible:
A woman of noble character...she brings her husband good...she sets about her work vigorously, her arms are strong...she extends her hands to the needy...she is clothed in strength and dignity, she can laugh at days to come...her children call her blessed and her husband praises her (paraphrase, mine).

I promise to not push any of this.
I may share my excitement but that's normal, right? :)
If you know anyone who has a need, will you let me know?
My plan is to keep a list of needs and start working on them as I am able.

I'd be remiss if I didn't at least share the website so here it is: mythirtyone.com/temberdickman.
Thank you for checking it out...I plan to do a launch celebration party and will be sure to post that somewhere.
Did I mention the February Special is fanastic?! ;)
